A2 Cold work tool steel - Flats, Squares, Rounds

A2 is an air hardening, cold work, tool steel. A 5% Chromium steel which provides high hardness after heat treatment with good dimensional stability. A2 has wear properties that lie between oil hardening Carbon Manganese steels like 01 and conventional high Carbon, high Chromium alloys like D2.

A2 delivers good toughness with medium wear resistance and is relatively easy to machine. Used in many applications which require good wear resistance as well as good toughness.

Typical Applications: blanking tools and punch, trim and forming dies, gauges, shear blades and stamping dies.

AISI A2 equivalent grades: BS4659 - BA2, AISI - A2, DIN - 1.2363 - X100CrMoV5
