AISI 4140 steel plate

4140 plate is a 1% chromium, molybdenum, manganese low alloy steel plate. It is known for its toughness, high fatigue strength, and high torsional strength. AISI 4140 steel plate has excellent toughness and excellent corrosion resistance because of its higher percentage of chromium and molybdenum. The 41xx family of steel include chromium and molybdenum and are often referred to as chromoly steel or chrome-moly.

4140 plate exhibits exceptional strength, toughness, and wear resistance, making it ideal for demanding applications in the aerospace, oil and gas, and many other industries. 4140 steel is used for machinery parts, shafts, crankshafts, gears and collars due to its toughness, abrasion and impact resistance, and high fatigue strength.

4140 steel plate can be welded but need preheating due to its crack sensitivity.
