PS09 Plastic Mould Steel

PS09 is a plastic mould tool steel, it is equivalent to DIN 1.2316, We can supply PS09 from stock in rounds, flats and plate.

PS09 is a chrome-molybdenum steel which offers improved corrosion resistance properties, it possesses good polishability, toughness, heat resistance properties and is wear-resistant. PS09 is often used in application for processing chemically aggressive plastic materials (e.g. PVC).

PS09 is a martensitic stainless chromium steel that displays uniform hardness in all dimensions, easy to machine, provides a high surface finish and is polishable. PS09 is commonly used in plastic moulds, offering a higher corrosion resistance than 1.2083. It can be used with for the manufacturing of chemically aggressive materials like PVC and plastics containing abrasive fillers.

We can deliver 1.2316 (PS09) in the pre hardened condition (300HB or 340HB).

PS09 is not suitable for nitriding and chrome plating because of the high chrome content.

Typical applications:
