Press braking services

Press braking pre-drilled steel sheet Press braking duplex steel - corregated repeatable bends press braking thick duplex

As part of Steel Express' fabrication services we can offer our customers press braking of material up to 12.5m in length and 20mm thickness. Press brake machines are ideal for forming plate economically and repeatable from single items to large runs.

With access to the largest and most accurate CNC brake presses in the UK that can deliver up to 1,300 tonnes of force over the length of the material, Steel Express can offer press braking on a wide range of materials including stainless steel, duplex stainless steels, Hardox® wear plate, Armox® protection plate, cold and hot rolled carbon steel, aluminium and brass.

The press braking machines can monitor and adjust the bending force at 6 points along the length of the material, this compensates for small variations in the thickness of the material along its length and creates an consistent and repeatable bend. As the computer calculate the force required to make the bend based on the type of material in use, even materials with larger amounts of spring-back such as Hardox® wear plate can be bent accurately and repeatable.

Details of cold bending Hardox® can be found here.

The tooling is sectional which means that it is easy to keep the tooling in prime condition thus reducing marking and making it ideal for press braking stainless steel and aluminium.

Applications

Press braking can be used in a wide range of industries and applications from corrugated sea container panels to architectural stair treads and bespoke structural sections. We can also press brake channels and angles to your exact requirements.
